On October 28, 2011 Pope Benedict announced the erection in the United States of a “personal ordinariate” for the former Anglicans (worldwide) whom he reconciled to the Holy See of Rome by his own initiative (motu proprio) in November 2009 with the Apostolic Constitution Anglicanorum Coetibus (“Groups of Anglicans”).
The Pope has already granted “personal ordinariates” under the same Constitution to other former Anglicans in England, Canada and Australia.
What’s a “personal ordinariate”? And who are the ‘Anglo-Catholics’ the Pope has reconciled to the Holy See?
Only the biggest news (arguably) for Anglo-Catholics in 500 years.
