Once again it is with profound sorrow that the Directors & Friends of the National Coalition apostolate must note the passing of a loyal cleric-fighter & friend in The Lord Christ.
Father Michael Alexander Jarecki died yesterday, 22 October, in the year of Our Lord 2012. Father, 95 years old, was born 6 October 1917. He had been a friend of the NCCL apostolate for decades, and served as NCCL’s National Spiritual Director for the past decade.
Father Michael, as he was affectionately known by those closest to him for years, will be remembered — especially by many a Catholic wandering in the current deserts of crisis — for the discreet & life-sustaining liturgical services he provided in the homes of those devoted to the ancient Roman Liturgy: back in the dark days when such pastoral piety was considered ‘verboten’ by not a few benighted clergy & laity, and punished by the ever-ready-to-temporize hierarchy.
Like Bishop Danylak (whom he probably never knew personally) Father Jarecki will also be gratefully remembered for the fortitude and clarity of his defense of authentic education & formation of Christian youth in faith & morals. The two rarely ever minced words when it came to defending the purity of youngsters from the wiles of those who advocate classroom sex-education. And their good counsel served many worried parents well.
Thanks be to God that Father Jarecki had dear Friends in Christ at his side when he made his last stand. A very apt obituary was prepared by one of them and can be read by clicking here.
Please God that he has hardly labored in vain, that he has finished the course, kept the Faith and now merits the crown of victory in Christ’s mercy.
May the example of Father’s death be for all unto sobriety of Faith in the One Alone Who by the Divine strength of His gentleness has conquered all the powers of the world, and Alone can escort Father Michael’s soul — and ours — to the place before His Father which has been prepared since He laid the foundations of creation.
Eternal memory, oh Lord!
Eternal memory grant unto him, oh Lord!
Eternal memory grant unto Thy servant-priest, Michael, oh Lord!
