Beware the ides of March? – extraordinary announcement of the Holy See: Pope Francis to consecrate Russia and Ukraine
The Director of the Holy See Press Office Matteo Bruni has today announced that, "On Friday 25 March, during the Celebration of Penance at which he will preside at 17.00 in Saint Peter's Basilica, Pope Francis will consecrate Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The same act, on the same day, will be carried out in Fatima by His Eminence Cardinal Krajewski, Apostolic Almoner, as envoy of the Holy Father.". https://press.vatican.va/content/salastampa/it/bollettino/pubblico/2022/03/15/0177/00384.html#ing The declaration of the Holy See is of great importance. We appeal to all the bishops of the world to join Pope Francis that same day, fulfilling the request of Our Lady of Fatima who on 13 July 1917 asked for the consecration of Russia to Her Immaculate Heart and on 13 June 1929 communicated to Sister Lucia, in the monastery at Tuy, the request that this consecration be made "in union with all the bishops of the world". We do not know if this consecration will remove the threat of war, famine, and persecution of the Church and of the Holy Father that Our Lady foresaw at Fatima if the world had not converted, but certainly the act announced by the Holy See is destined to bring great graces to Russia, Ukraine and the whole world. On February 11, 2014, one year after the day on which Benedict XVI made known his decision to resign from the pontificate, I published an article entitled Motus in fine velocior to signal the beginning of a dizzying acceleration of time’s pace, starting with the resignation of Benedict and the election of Pope Francis on March 13, 2013.
Benedict XVI reigned from April 19, 2005, to February 28, 2013, seven years and ten months. From the election of Pope Francis to the approach of Christmas 2021 eight years and nine months of pontificate have passed. Benedict XVI’s post-pontificate is therefore longer than his pontificate: a paradoxical fact, which makes his resignation even more inexplicable, if the only or primary reason for it was the burden of advancing age. Had he not abdicated, Benedict XVI might have died earlier, due to the natural physical and moral strain that the government of the Church entails, but he would have been forced to face what, in his view, was the most serious problem of the contemporary Church: the loss of faith.

When a bishop, not only his subjects, is subject to law.
Like it or not, he has a point.
Some years ago Pope Francis said to dissenters agitating to ordain women, that he is “a son of the Church”, and that he cannot change her doctrines to suit himself or others.

There are such things as intrinsic evils. Directly killing the innocent — like the pre-born, the elderly, the infirm; or suicide; also, blasphemy, sodomy, and the like.

Until we can complete a short treatise in questions & answers about the nearly universal cancellation of the sacred Liturgy (foremost holy Mass) by the world’s bishops during the panic over the coronavirus pandemic, Directors of the NCCL apostolate present the following points of argument for consideration.
Except in cases of excommunication, interdict or similar censure, does a bishop possess the authority to forbid – as many throughout the world of late have – lay faithful from actual participation (viz., to be really present) in a liturgical act of latria, regardless whether the Liturgy prayed is scheduled or not by the bishop, or whether it is declared sine populo, “without the people”, or “private”, “not public” or “publicly cancelled”?
